Unfortunately, I was not able to save the sparrow eggs in the nest from being eaten by this snake, but I did mange to get a few pictures later on.

r.i.p. puppy love
for awhile we had the pleasant surprise of finding an adorable little puppy running around our backyard looking for someone to play with (along with his older sister, who still comes around). we were ecstatic! a sweet puppy for bella & misha to play with and NO cleaning up after him-score! he would run home with big sis until the next time. we thought that he must have someone taking care of him since he always ran home, but also had suspicions when he was on our porch step shivering while there were 3 inches of snow on the ground. this all occurred during january-march/april. and then, outta nowhere, he stopped showing up with his sis - probably around early april.
well, upon walking misha earlier this morning, i ran into a girl walking the other dog and asked what had happened to the little pup - assuming he probably was given away or something. she got real ackward, said that he died and she didn't know what really happened but that he didn't belong to her, he was her boyfriend's dog. is it just me? or is that a strange response to not know what happened to your significant other's pet?
being that i am an avid lover of animals (especially dogs), maybe i'm reading into this too much. but i feel that something bad must have happened to him. not that i can do anything at this point. however, i did want to post a picture of him in remembrance. for the short time that he showed up on our doorstep, we all fell in love with him and we miss him. my daughter still asks about him when the older dog comes to play-which is everyday.
it sucks to think that animal abuse is happening next door, but it is everywhere.
so hug your pets!
and if you get that weird feeling that an animal (or human for that matter) is being abused, look into it before they are just another memory of something you might have been able to save.
